My skin may still be reeling from an intense afternoon in the sun, but man was it worth it! I traveled out to Melbourne this past Saturday to check out the Melbourne Air & Space Show - a two-day event held at the Orlando Melbourne International Airport with the USAF Thunderbirds headlining the show.
Some of the attractions on the bill included the Shockwave Jet Truck, Scooter Yoak's P-51 Quicksilver Mustang, the B-17 Flying Fortress used on-screen in Memphis Belle, and the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team. But the biggest highlight for many (including myself), was the flyover of the Northrop Grumman B-2 Stealth Bomber. With only 20 operational B-2s in the world, this was quite the treat as the "Spirit of Mississippi" made 3 passes over the airfield while on a training flight, dropping simulated ordinance across the country.
Here are just a few of the 1200+ shots I grabbed from the day.
